Gilberts put bespoke style into elite golfing venue

One of the highest ranked golf clubs in the world is embarking on a £multi-million upgrade and expansion to establish its quiet corner of Scotland as a major golfing destination.

Gilberts is discreetly helping it deliver on Royal Dornoch Golf Club’s statement of intent with extraordinary bespoke air delivery.

Founded in 1877, the Club is ranked #2 in the world by Golf Digest. A complete redevelopment of its 100+ years old club house and addition of a third course will, says General Manager Neil Hampton, “reinforce the club as an icon of world golf.”

The Club’s management wanted to tastefully proclaim that legacy throughout the new interior.

We rose to the challenge, manufacturing bespoke perforated grilles up to 2000mm x 2000mm and printed with the Club’s crest. We engineered tailored supports to accommodate the scale of the grilles.

Mounted within the walls of the main bar and restaurant, the grilles simultaneously provide a focal point whilst discreetly extracting stale air regardless of how the space is being used or how many people are present. The area includes a collapsible partition, providing the flexibility needed to host a wide range of activities, as the Clubhouse serves both the local community and Royal Dornoch’s 2,000+ members.

Our grilles and diffusers deliver and direct the air movement not just in the central social space, but throughout the three-storey Clubhouse.

Our circular swirl diffusers concealed behind a square face plate (GSF-B), linear slot diffusers (GSL) and drum louvres supply fresh air from the Clubhouse’s air handling unit whilst our perforated grilles extract to maintain the welcoming ambience.

HVAC engineers Ri Cruden were tasked with the install of the building services, integrating our ventilation with the air handling units and ground source heat pump.

Rory Cruden commented, “It was a complex project as the strategy changed part way through the process, prompting the requirement for such large perforated grilles in the bar and restaurant area and the client wanting the Club logo to be a focal point. Gilberts took it all in its stride: the result is everything we wanted- and more.”

It’s not the first time we’ve demonstrated our ability to bring a high level of personalisation to a project. We’ve designed and manufactured quality bespoke grilles and diffusers for Kurt Keiger Bicester Village, Specsavers and Grantley Hall among others.
