Shadowline Finish
Definition
Internal surfaces painted matt black and face brushed finish (as above).
Suitability
Suitable for all standard aluminum product applications in ceiling, wall or floor mounted applications.
Mill Finish
Definition
This is the finish directly out of manufacture. No final finish applied to the manufactured product. There could be manufacturing “witness” marks, due to the various processes which the material goes through during fabrication.
Suitability
Care should be taken when selecting mill finish in light commercial applications (such as offices, shops etc) where this may not be suitable. The product will not have a finishing process applied and will have an industrial appearance. Natural aluminum will resist corrosion in a clean atmosphere however the natural process of oxidisation will gradually dull the surface appearance. The oxidised layer is a tough durable film that makes the unit highly resistant to further corrosion. Grille cleaning will not prevent oxidisation and this oxidised layer can rub, allowing the possibility of transfer to surrounding surfaces.
Plain Stainless Steel Finish
Definition
A plain industrial stainless steel finish. No final finish applied to the manufactured product. There could be manufacturing “witness” marks, due to the various processes which the material goes through during fabrication.
Suitability
Suitable principally for industrial/heavy commercial applications. Care should be taken for light commercial applications (such as offices/shops etc) where a plain stainless steel finish and industrial built product may not be suitable. The product will not have a finishing process applied and will have an industrial appearance.
Polished Finish
Definition
The surface is buffed to light not high gloss finish and is not sealed or protected.
Suitability
Suitable for any wall/ceiling application where a decorative finish is required. Not suitable for floor mounted units.
