Global luxury hospitality brand Fairmont has relied on air movement expert Gilberts Blackpool to deliver the perfect atmosphere in its latest development.
Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere is the Group’s newest UK property and represents a £125m investment by Fairmont’s partner Select Group to completely transform the estate.

Project mechanical services installer A & B Engineering chose us to support in achieving the high performance air circulation necessary for a five-star hotel. The building services had to comply with all the diverse ventilation requirements throughout the venue, front- and back-of-house, from golf glub to guest suites, from Spa to the Gordon Ramsay at The Mere restaurant.
We rose to the challenge, helping A&B select components that would discreetly blend with the contemporary décor, meet the air movement standards needed for each space, and be efficient to install within the plasterboard ceilings and walls.
We advised a combination of our omni-directional swirl diffusers (GDS), four-way blow ceiling diffusers (DGA), high capacity linear slot diffusers (JSL) and linear bar grilles (L), all powder-coated to the same subtle shade of white with 20% gloss finish.
Our choice gave an aesthetic uniformity throughout the venue. Simultaneously we enabled the adjustment of air supply and extract to deliver the airflow necessary- varying from 26l/s to 266l/s depending on grille and diffuser location- to balance occupancy and temperature levels without dead spots.
We paid attention to detail too, blanking some of the linear slot diffuser sections to maintain the visual line without the distraction of the ductwork etc behind. In the guest suites, our linear bar grille with removable core option enabled A&B Engineering’s team to install the grille frame without face screws, giving a neater finished appearance.
