We scored a bullseye when we were called upon to bring social darts brand Flight Club to Liverpool.
We didn’t achieve 180 however, but a full 360, ensuring every inch of the 11,000 sq ft, double height venue, in Liverpool ONE, is correctly ventilated: our swirl diffuser delivers omni-directional airflow at high volumes with rapid entrainment (mixing).
We balanced the airflow to maintain ambient comfort throughout the depth of the bar even when the venue is packed to capacity, without that air movement adversely affecting the flight trajectory of the darts.
The key was the utilisation of our innovative thermal diffusers, as part of our ThermAstute® (GSJA-T), installed high in the ceiling void but concealed from guests by the contemporary take on a traditional Victorian pub interior.
The swirl’s unique fascia design meant there was no need for the visual impact nor cost of adding a Coanda plate which is conventionally required to optimise air movement with swirl diffusers in exposed ductwork.
Further, choosing the thermal variation meant that as/when the internal temperature varies slightly from the preset, the diffuser automatically senses and adjusts the air distribution pattern to maintain the preset without triggering demand on the mechanical air conditioning system.
This optimises energy efficiency, which itself is further enhanced in that the swirl requires no electricity to function.
As a result of the diffuser’s features, high volumes of air can be evenly delivered into the social spaces and play zones and the air quality maintained, all without Flight Club guests being aware nor their game affected by a sudden draught of air.
It’s not the first time our innovation has been applied in setting where air movement is critical to occupant enjoyment, demonstrating our expertise in delivering compliant ventilation without creating any turbulence that would disturb the accuracy of a missile in flight.
Our state-of-the-art in-house Computational Fluid Dynamics software and test laboratory gives us unrivalled capability to devise, develop and verify our design concepts. Customers have peace of mind that our air movement strategies will deliver in every aspect of their brief.
We provided the ventilation for the training school including two firing ranges for a branch of the UK security sector.
We also developed a bespoke array of grilles for an underground shooting range for clients of one of Britain’s leading names in hand-made rifles and shotguns.
Nor is Flight Club the only hospitality venue that has chosen us to support in guest enjoyment. Among other leisure brands, we have equipped Virgin’s first UK hotel, Gleneagles’ urban establishment Townhouse in Edinburgh, Radisson RED, the award-winning Grantley Hall, Black Sheep Coffee’s Battersea outlet and The Mere Golf Resort and Spa.
