WorkWell in Every Detail- Including the Ventilation

Our ability to deliver individuality and quality has played a vital role in helping serviced offices operator WorkWell deliver on the science behind successful working environments.

WorkWell has completely refurbished the 1960s four-storey Copthall Bridge building in historic Harrogate to provide 38,000 sq ft of Grade A agile offices designed to inspire and support its occupants.

Our unique concealed swirl diffusers and modern linear slot diffusers are central to the scheme, discreetly delivering air distribution solutions that reflect WorkWell’s calm, professional image.

Building services engineers Machenair specifically chose us to provide the means of ensuring premium indoor air quality and air distribution throughout the office spaces, meeting rooms, breakout spaces and wellbeing room.

Our unique concealed swirls (GTD) blend invisibly into the concierge-style décor within the offices, using the ceiling tile as their face plate. They are literally hidden from view, capitalising on our patented swirl diffuser technology to achieve omni-directional high induction.

Similarly enhancing the clean interior architecture, our linear slot diffusers- GSLS- are supplying freshly conditioned air and extracting used air from the open plan zones.

Michael Rowley, Machenair director, explained, “We chose Gilberts for two reasons.  Firstly, the client wanted minimal interruptions to the ceiling grids: Gilberts is the only company to our knowledge that manufactures a swirl that uses the ceiling tile as a face plate. Secondly, we want the surety that the ventilation will deliver as claimed: Gilberts thoroughly tests, virtually and physically, to validate its performance.”

Our concealed swirl (GTD) is exemplar of our work as Britain’s leading HVAC manufacturer, and a pioneer in engineering and design.

It features a bespoke impeller, positioned directly against the perforated tile- be it 300 wide plank or 600 x 600 tile. The impeller builds on patented technology we’ve already incorporated in our other swirl diffuser designs.

The impeller helps produce a radial blow pattern with Coanda, thereby overcoming the traditional issue of cold air ‘dumping’. It ensures optimal performance, even when requiring a temperature reduction of 10°Δt.

Our concealed swirl performs with a free ventilation area as low as 16%- unrivalled in the market.

The GSLS linear slots chosen by Machenair combine up to date styling and design technology to blend with modern architecture.  They maintain excellent air distribution characteristics providing smooth, accurate and flexible airflow control through clean, unbroken lines. Discreet control vanes allow the airflow to be directed across the ceiling, ensuring optimum comfort for everyone using the space below.

Jaguar Land Rover’s Mayfair showroom, Aston Martin’s Birmingham dealership (Grange in Solihull) and Virgin’s first UK hotel, in Edinburgh, are just a few of the venues that also use the diffuser, reinforcing our position as the UK’s leading HVAC manufacturer.
